RATIONALE
LSI was created to contribute towards strengthening of democracy and democratic institutions in nascent democracies with the major focus on legislative capability-building and strengthening; quality non-partisan political research; political leadership development; creation of avenues for a pluralistic and participatory citizen involvement into democratic decision-making; performance monitoring of democratic actors and institutions and education in democracy, political management and good governance.

LSI works to strengthen democracy and democratic institutions in emerging states by primarily building the capability of elected representatives and legislatures and instituting non-partisan monitoring framework in order to facilitate full participation of all segments of the society in the democratic process.
INTERNATIONAL BOARD OF ADVISORS
The LSI Board of Advisors is a unique mix of prominent intellectuals, politicians, national and international parliamentarians and academicians who regularly advise LSI on its programs. The LSI Board oversees progress of existing programs and acts as a great resource to the institute on an honorary basis. Although Members of the Board of Advisors do not represent their respective political allegiances or organizations while on the Board, their participation in the Board indicates a diversity of professional, political, and social backgrounds. |
