Technical Assistance
LSI provides technical assistance to legislators in developing countries and emerging democracies to enable them to perform more efficiently their legislative, oversight and representational functions. Such assistance includes advisory and consultancy services on the role and working methods of the legislative bodies  including legislative procedure and practice, as well as capacity building for legislators and legislative staff.
Orientation Programs for Members of National, State, and Local Legislatures
With a view to familiarizing the newly elected Members with the intricacies of the Legislative Practices and Procedures, the LSI organizes Orientation Programs. Each Program is of two days duration. These programs aim at promoting a deeper appreciation of the constitutional role and position of the National, State and Local Legislatures as representative institutions, familiarizing the Members more closely with the legislative traditions and etiquette and help them in making the best and most effective use of the precious time for more informed and fruitful discussions.
Seminars and workshops for Legislative Members
To enable the elected representatives to make optimum use of the time at their disposal, the LSI organizes seminars and specialized workshops on various topics in the legislative process. Seminars on topics of political, economic, cross cultural and social developments are organized to help the legislators acquire deeper and broader understanding of complex national and global issues. |
